The history of Górka Szczęśliwicka – a story of successful transformation
Górka Szczęśliwicka is a place with a remarkable history – the highest hill in the capital (152 m above sea level).
From a rubbish dump to a ski slope
Its origins go back to the 1950s – a municipal rubbish dump. In the 1970s the area was turned into a recreational space.
From snow to dry-slope matting
The breakthrough came in 1997, when the slope was covered with dry-slope matting – a pioneering solution in Poland.
City takeover and renovation
- Modernisation of the slope with a chairlift
- Renovation of the centre's building
- Landscaping of the grounds
- Cost: around 12 million złoty
Górka Szczęśliwicka today
The only place in Warsaw to ski and snowboard all year round.
